I used to run a Remote Access BBS and I recall this being the very best upload scanner ever. It's a pity David Muir isn't doing anything now. Come back!

You might want to check out BBSDocumentary.com - that's how I found this site. Everyone needs to go there and provide your personal BBS insight to Jason!

I used to run The Asylum BBS a long time ago using Renegade... I searched Google and here I am. Makes me want to pull out the old Tandy 286.

Cott lang was here 5 days prior to me.. funny how I decided to start "reminiscing" about the same time as he did. I wrote OvrEdit for Renegade about 7 years back when I was 15.. started "missing" the BBS scene, and just started google searching EVERYTHING from "back then". That's how I ended up here.Like you care. Hello, anyways.

Wow.. This brings back much memories.. I remember when I got my 286/12 /w 640k and a 10 meg HD. Ran Telegard between when I was 12 till about 16. Also ran renengade, obliviion/2, liquid, spitfire, majorbbs, wildcat etc. From boston was running Criminal Intentions/2 BBS 2 nodes. Remember using ACiD's cool ANSI to make fresh menus in TheDraw.. lol.. I miss those days.. If only I could rewind time.. Well now I guess I am all grown up.. If anyone wants to chat feel free to email me at pmowery-at-okihost.com ..

Nice to see this software is still being supported. I ran WWIV a long time ago. Currently I'm running Virtual Advanced on telnet and like the scripting ability. I'm eyeballing the Telegard source as something to dig into because it's a very sturdy platform. Roland DeGraffe abandoned Virtual Advanced and the source in unavailable. Thankyou for making your bbs public domain so people can still be involved. There needs to be some newcomers as now all the sites are down. Keep up the faith! Jahmas

Ok, I must also add that the original TG2.5i source code was just quite a mess. :-) But I can't forget how funny I found a tc() sub that merely served as a TextColor() alias. Apparently someone didn't type very quickly. Maybe Tom remembers that far back? I fondly remember TheDraw too ...

Brian M (LoRaH BBS) (_bcmatusz-at-pobox.com">bcmatusz-at-pobox.com) Wed Jan 16 09:57:20 2002
Longtime Detroit area SysOp running Telegard. Tip of the hat to Eric Oman and Martin Pollard for the early work. I still think I have my copy of the 2.5i source on a floppy somewhere. Memories of the TAG vs. Telegard days and of course, it's early WWIV Pascal origins.

Hello, Iīve a NetModem / E from Shiva Corp. The company that I work for is PEGASO, one oh the BEST Cell Phone Service Provider from Mexico. Time agowe got support from Alcatel which installed to us a NetModem / E. But now that we ended the contract we are looking forward to reuse the 2 Shiva Modems that we have. The thing that is has been imposible to contact the people that configured the OLD IP address assinged to the Modem, so we want to reset or reasing IP address but we donīt know the procedure. The only thing that I get to is to a command line >Do you know how can I reprogram the Modem?

Telegard is the best bbs package I have ever come across. The scripting language is easy to learn, but not very extensive. And the way that one can almost *completely* configure the look and feel of the board is the biggest plus in my book. Too bad I had to put it on the back burner for now, wish there was a telnet server out there that was more stable under Win9x. So unfortunately I had to zip it all up and run Mystic, which isn't bad either, just not as good as TG. Anyway, hope to see a better and more stable telnet server come along in the near future.

Well I'm traveling down memory lane after running several RG / TG boards in the 815 area code. I really was excited to see all the renewed interest in BBS's but it seems all the software writers have moved on. Cott, Strike, The Iniq team, etc. Its a shame because I really wish TG had integrated with the web to become something more. Still hoping Tim. Hoping for a miracle.

Weird seeing all of this. I thought Telegard would be in some shallow grave at this point. It's a little stroll down memory lane seeing Telegard still alive, somewhat. I can remember being about 13 or 14 on a 286 machine using "The Draw" to make my ANSI files, and using a text editor for my non graphical users, sporting my 2400 baud modem. Wowser.. Keep it coming! One more thing will there be an online version of telegard soon so that people can telnet in to it? Let me know!#!-at-#-at-#PEACE

a lot of history.. I ran Telegard back when it was just Carl Muelller, and myself.. I wrote the menueditor back then when the whole thing was in turbopascal. Actually, im partly responsible for the TG pascal source code to leak out to everyone..which gave birth to renegade and who knows how many others.... this is wierd i thoughtbbs's were dead.

I've been running Maximus for about two years. I liked it, but have become discouraged that the author has basically abandoned it. Because of this, and the fact that Maximus is incompatible with the RA/Renegade type of BBS software, and one often has to make it jump through hoops to do similar things to those packages. I've decided to look for new software. I've tried several at this point, and have found some to be quite good, but for one reason or enother, there was always some feature that was restrictive, and the package didn't offer me everything I wanted. I'm going to give Telegard a try now. I first heard about it from the NC of SkyNet, Keith Little, who ran it in the past. I will return here and give everyone my honest opinions on Telegard.

I'm just considering changing the feel of some of my sites to a more TG'ish BBS feel.   Well, I'm getting ready to try something a bitodd... I wrote a NetModem-like util for Linuxthat hopefully will allow me to run a BBS underdosemu with a telnet port. Anyhow, my first choice for BBS software wouldn't run under dosemu, so I'm trying Telegard. I haven't used it since 2.7, so I'm hoping there's some cool new stuff available in the latest version!

Hi all,It seems that the bulletin board scene iscoming back alive and kicking. Everyone isbored by the web with lack of speed and/orgood 'sources' ;) Come on Tim, the 1stquarter is not over yet! Linux rocks !!!My Little story, a long time ago I was runningRemote Acces -> PCBoard -> Renegade and Finally I was asked by someone (forgot hisname) to start using Telegard 2.7 as soon asit was made available. Eversince I was runningTelegard till beginning of 1998. Then I decidedto quit, but I couldn't stop visiting thissite ... I was happily suprised that therewas a y2k fix, nevertheless I am not runninga telegard board anymore, I only used it asfiledescription uploader/editor (because ofa cool tool that was developed by a cosysopof my board). At the moment I am running anamiga clone on a Linux machine, it is calledDaydream, its really cool but Telegard is stillthe best package I've ever seen, for the Linuxgeeks: http://daydream.iwn.fi/projects.htmlCya!

I used your RGNEWS door a few years ago and found it to be excellent! I am now running Telegard v3.09 sp4. I would like to see a files.bbs importer for the latest version as I am having problems (RTE's) with files2tg. It's great to see that you're still supporting the software. I beg you to continue! The BBS community is still alive and well as long as we have quality software such as yours. Good Luck and leave me mail sometime.

Well, after being in exile, it looks as if BBSing is back on the rise. I am glad because the web sometimes bores me to tears. Look for the infosurge BBS to be back soon, concentrating on building a gaming and thinking community rather than trying to be all things to all people.

I used to run telegard 2.7 (and possibly 2.5) quite a while back. Before that a friend put together a quickbbs system for me but I didn't know what I was doing and I changed to Telegard so I could learn on my own.I later changed to renegade. My BBS has been down for some time now and I'm thinking of reviving it and possibly changing back to Telegard which I really liked alot.We offer movie memorabilia and videos of old TV shows and movies, freebies, job info, and more. I plan to create internet radio shows. My BBS will be revived at 323-965-1072 and 323-936-6009.I'll place an announcement on my website http://www.ebonyshowcase.org when the BBS is running again. If you have an interest in internet radio or movie and TV memories, contact me.

I am a telnet sysop of TG 3.09.g2.sp3.. (telnet shrink.hypercon.com) but am wondering if Tim is continuing to support TG or if we're finally abandoned. I've been doing this since 1986 (originally on a C64) but moved to TG 2.7 in 92.. So where's 3.10? :)

I have run tons of different BBS softwares, and then I ran across Telegard. Telegard is the BEST bbs package I have yet to use. The amount of customation you can do to make your bbs entirely unique. Hands down to Tim for his great work. RELEASE A NEW VERSION SOON! =)

I started with Telegard 2.7, then graduated to some hacks (QUiVER, Renegade 10-05), until TG3 was released. I was blown away by the configurability! The dialup BBSs in my area became extinct, and I shut down. Now, I've got the new version with the service pack running on an hours-only BBS (which stinks), and I still will never go back to the others! TGFTG! And thank you to Martin Pollard (the first revolutionary) and Tim Strike (_THE_ God of configurability and customization!)

I have tried all kinds of BBS software, including WildCat!, WinServer, MajorBBS, Iniquity, Renegade, WWIV (blah), Mystic, RA/Ele, Tag, SpitFire, and a few more I can't remember. But I ALWAYS come back to Telegard because of the continued support you provide and the pure quality of the BBS itself. Keep it up! I will always be faithful to Telegard. No other BBS is worthy of running on my system! =) Thanks again Tim Strike! 3 cheers for Tim!
